On this week’s episode of Quantum Growth for Financial Advisors, we welcome back Mike Futterman to the show!
Mike and Jon discuss the age old concepts around discipline and motivation. Mike introduces his concept of “type two fun”, which involves intentionally choosing challenging activities that may prompt feelings of discomfort. He explains that the idea originated from mountaineers and emphasizes the significance of persevering through difficult tasks for personal growth, drawing parallels between physical and non-physical activities.
Jon and Mike go deep into the significance of motivation and leadership in the financial services sector, particularly for financial advisors aiming to achieve success. They emphasized the challenges of motivating others and the psychological aspect of feeling pride and accomplishment in overcoming difficulties. Jon hits the points of the need for advisors to develop emotional intelligence as their teams grow and the science behind motivation.
Mike then conducts a thought experiment with Jon, asking him to contemplate a desire and its significance, as well as the steps required to attain it his goals and how that would make him feel.
